Still in the topic of pink. I hope you people are in the pink of health. I found out from a friend, Anna, that we can help funding a woman in need of a mammogram for FREE by just clicking at the Breast Cancer site.

Yes it is FREE. Everyone please click, this is the least we can help.

Pretty in Pink

Beaded jewelry 4 Comments »

As a quilter, I love playing with colors in my patchwork and fabric crafts.

And I have always loved pink and still loving pink at this advanced age even though it has always been associated with baby or young girls! Heck care.

A fellow blogger mentioned that wearing pink minus some ages from the wearer. I have not checked the fact out but I know I just feel good when I put on pink. And only a few days ago I was making a pink necklace and bracelet for myself. I will show them to you when I am in the pink mood and model them myself.

Pink_watch

Yesterday I beaded this watch strap and adorned it with Swarovski crystals. And this is not the only pink watch I have.
And just look at my collection of pink footwear. Nothing expensive, I can’t afford branded stuffs.

My pink footwear

I also saw a website about men’s fashion - Real Men Wear Pink. I guess some pastel pink in men is ok but not bright pink as shown here in Eddyra.net. And not pink undies as shown in TheBolehBlog . It is just not cool.

Man in pinkAnd pink thong for men - Noooo……!

Please guys - Stick to blue.

Quilter’s Weakness

News 13 Comments »

Only a few days ago I was telling Sewing Mom that I am staying away from Spotlight store these days. The reason is I have a weakness for cotton materials. I say it is the quilters’ weakness. We keep buying materials, our heads full of ideas but we don’t really have so much time to finish as many projects as we would love to.

Guess what? I went to Spotlight again just now, totally unplanned, and brought home these 5 pieces of materials. And I have alot of unsewn materials collected over many years. I even have to store them in separate places in case my better half stumbled upon them. If he ever does he may ban me from going Spotlight again, or worse case he may decide to lock me in the house. And I will then have to use all those materials in my collection to make rope like what Rapunzel did to climb down from my 7th story apartment.

So now I have some Christmas prints, I will have to think of what to do with them. Especially Christmas is around the corner and it will be nice if I can make a few gifts for my friends in time for the festive season.

And I will show you the finished projects as long as you promise not to let dear hubby knows about my little secret.

Deal or no deal?

Pay It Forward

News 9 Comments »

Hi all,

My apologies for the absence and inaction. I am usually behind my laptop doing a little here and there, surfing websites and visiting friends’ blogs. Only I have not been doing any sewing. Christmas is coming and I can see fellow sewing moms and daughters are frantically trying to beat the Christmas datelines.

I don’t celebrate Christmas, so I only have deadlines Laughing. So the reason behind my inaction. The other day, I went to fellow blogger’s site, sewgoodsewfar.com and she promised to make a handmade gift to the first 3 persons who commented in her blog to request for PIF (Pay it Forward) exchange. Too bad for me I was the 5th to comment.

For info, this exchange is based on the concept of the movie “Pay it Forward” where acts or deeds of kindness are done without expecting something in return.

As I am also a PIF person, I also feel like doing it too. I will sew a small handmade gift for the first 3 to comment on this blog post. The good thing is the commentator has the option not to join this exchange chain to make gifts for others. But if you choose to pay it forward you are certainly most welcome.

WelcomeSew, what are you waiting for? Anyone is welcome to comment and get a little present from me.

Warm regards,
Fatiah

PS - By the way, the “Welcome” wallhang is a shadow applique where I used organza material over
the appliqued patterns of the geese sewn on the the American  cotton.

Happy Birthday Son

Cross stitch 7 Comments »

Aaaargh………… It was my son’s birthday yesterday and I forgot all about it! Yesterday was a public holiday and I had many guests over, seven siblings and their families. It was sort of get-together where I included a few close friends.

This is the first time I forget any of my kid’s birthday and I am feeling terrible about it. And it’s all because of my computer. When my kids were younger I hardly touched the computer as I was always too busy with them at home.

Cross stitchI even did this cross-stitch when the children were young to remind me the importance of my kids. It says - The best thing to spend on your children is time. Even though sewing is my passion, it took a back seat and the children has always been my priority.

Now that they are big and most of the times not at home, my laptop is my constant companion. I know I am spending too much time on it these days, surfing on the internet and blogging . It’s really addictive and I spent much of my extra time on it.

Frankly after the cooking, washing and cleaning a mom has really very little time for herself. My cousin asked how can I afford the time for the computer to which I answered - I steal it. She said she couldn’t steal time even if she wanted to. But then she’s one of the perfect moms whom I really admire. She is actually a Research Associate in the field of Child Development and Human Relations.

I think it is time I reflect back and take charge of my life and time. Probably I should draw a time-table and restrict myself at the internet. I must ensure that I also have quality time for myself and my better half before he starts rolling his eyes.

Happy Belated Birthday Muaz. We love you.

Hacked Again

Blogging tips 8 Comments »

To all the New Kids on the Blogs - Remember to Backup your Files.

Yesterday my blog was hacked for the second time by Cybr3king just after I had it restored. This time my site was totally defaced that I was greeted with scary picture of a skull instead of my familiar WP theme. Lucky me I did file backups so I shot an email to my hosting company and they restored it immediately. Only my last post was missing.

Here is a simple way of backingup your file in your cpanel account

Go to your cpanel – http://www.yourwebsitename.com/cpanel

  • - In the main screen click on Backups
  • - Click on the link (Generate/Download a full Backup)
  • - “Backup Destination” label will show “Home Directory
  • - Make sure your email that is displayed is up-to-date.
  • - Click on “Generate Backup

If you are on WordPress and do not have cpanel install the WP backup plugin.

  • Go to link http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-db-backup/installation and click on Download Plugin.
  • Open the zip file and extract wp-db-backup.php. Using filezilla or other ftp program which you may already have, create a directory in /wp-content/ and upload the file which you have extracted.
  • Back to your WordPress site and activate the plugin under the Plugins menu.
  • Next click the Manage menu and then click on Backup where you schedule your backups. Note any error messages which may appear, correct it and manage the backups.
