Puff Patchwork

Patchwork 8 Comments »

Puff patchwork or also  called biscuit patchwork is another of my favorite patterns.  I simply love the bulging squares of the pattern. Biscuit or puff quilts have been around for some time and were popular during the Victorian era. The puff patchwork are made with individually squares sewn together  and stuffed with  light weight polyester filling or batting found at craft stores. It may look complicated but if you do chain-piecing method it is not too laborious. I did one big puff quilt many years back which I still treasure.

I have decided to make puff patchwork cushion covers for the coming festive season which is barely a month away. Because of my bamboo sofa set in dark brown I usually use brown theme to match the sofa set. The completed cushion cover below.

But this cushion remind me more of Ferrero Rocher chocolates due to the color combination. Yummy.

Feeling like the least favourite child

My thoughts 1 Comment »

Just want to share this articleHome Sewwt Home which appeared in Sunday Times a day after Singapore 43rd birthday and surprised many that it was published.  It is a sensitive issue which many would not dare to write or voice out openly. Being a Malay and a Muslim myself and sharing the same sentiments as the writer, a number of times I entertain thoughts to migrate elsewhere. But will that be a good solution I wonder too, will the grass be greener there?Probably I will still be second-class citizen in the new land.  One Malaysian blogger says by just replacing the word Malay” to “non-Malay”, the whole sentence would apply in Malaysia too. I believe everywhere, belonging to a minority group has its disadvantages.

But wherever we are, I think we should have respect and love for the land that we step on for providing us a place to call home. I sincerely wish my fellow citizens will try to understand us more and make us feel more loved instead of feeling like the least favorite child. Then only we can be one united people as in our pledge.
