Sabika Necklaces have style and message attached to it. These necklaces have acquired a brand name and have become a world class business in the jewelry market. When a woman wears this necklace, it is meant to create a refined image regardless of the educational or cultural background. These necklaces are renewed every year during two collection sessions. They are usually advertised in advance and the main aim being to help the women develop personal style through her self-confidence.

These beautiful Sabika necklaces come in variety of shapes and sizes; usually handcrafted and can be worn either with casual attire or a formal one. These necklaces can be matched with ear rings, bracelets or rings that have been made in gorgeous style. Precious and semiprecious stones crafted into the necklace gives it dazzling look. These gorgeous necklaces can be found on the Internet or jewelry store at a price to suit everyone’s pocket.

Sabika Necklaces are nickel free, as most people are allergic to this metal. Most of them are produced in Australia. Swarowsky crystals and glass beads are mostly used to design these necklaces. The metals used are well galvanized and finished even though they are non-precious; this is to ensure high quality levels. When you purchase these necklaces, you will receive great tips on how to preserve them in good conditions.

Cleaning them with a soft clean cloth will be advisable as opposed to using jewelry cleaning solution. Sabika designers advice against passing them through water or exposing them to hair spray as well as other chemical substances; this may affect the polish. These necklaces come with the traditional extensions that allow the wearer to use them on a wide variety of clothes.

By: Peter Gitundu

About the Author:

The specialized world of the diamond industry is one that doesn’t receive much press beyond its own internal participants. The mainstream business news rarely includes this interesting and ever-evolving sector. But recently, UK broadsheet, The Guardian, ran a triumphant piece on a new world record sale of $35m for a rough diamond discovered at the Cullinan site in South Africa, by Petra Diamonds. Chief executive, Johan Dippenaar, was photographed holding the 507 carat monster with a broad grin on his face. Yes, you would be smiling too.

But, as we reported in the first profile on this business, the current market is struggling in these lean, cash-strapped times and there has been a fall in the volume of stones on the market reflecting this. DeBeers made a net loss of over $36m for 2009 but issued a statement last month suggesting that demand for rough stones was up, and starting to really move. New, developing markets in China and India are making up for the slump in Western Europe, and the U.S.

DeBeers, Petra and other key companies also realize that the business battleground really lies with creating and marketing desire at the retail level. Driving demand is a tricky enterprise, and it’s made even more so for luxury items such as diamonds. The Managing Director of DeBeers, Gareth Penny, was quoted in the press earlier this year saying, “The demand strategy for the future must be driven by excited consumers at retail.” The key word, I think, is excited. Good press, like that following the find at the Cullinan mine is a much needed elixir after the last twelve rocky economic months.

The industry, however, needs more than just marketing. It also has to recognize a longer-term view on how to cope with a finite supply of the precious stone, and the shift, to the east, of buyers. One emerging player in the business, Paul Ekon, also sees a change in the public perception and reputation of the business being crucial, “good PR and the ability to engage the consumer in the right way is something that needs improvement. From a mechanical standpoint, the industry is still often mired in bureaucratic squabbling and legalities, when it should be focused on creating a buzz, or demand for diamonds and fine jewellry.” This has to happen at the consumer level.

What people like Ekon and Penny recognize is the need to have a cohesive presence in countries like China. And do it quickly. This will involve a real marketing paradigm shift – away from the focus on the US (still the biggest retail market). Even with the world in an economic slump, China accounted for almost 15% of retail sales last year, and this is just the beginning. It will take creativity, sensitivity, and speed to embrace this new economic focus in the east. But, for those companies that can get there early, and create that necessary ‘buzz’ around this natural treasure, long-term stability and profitability are much more likely. After all, you only need to see the smile on a person’s face holding a diamond, to realize that this is a business that will always be in demand.

By: William Feins

About the Author:

Bracelet popularity dates back to the Roman times and continues today.

Roman bracelets shared many of the design patterns of necklaces and earrings from that era. The ever popular ball earrings from that era were nicely matched with a ball style bracelet. Engraved bangles and snake bracelets were very popular during Roman times.

Bracelets made of twisted coil with lion head ends were common place, as were the two part bracelets ending with a pair of lion heads. The Heracles knot bracelet is recognized as a Roman era piece.

The Roman’s were very creative in the designing of their jewelry. However they still borrowed from Greek motifs. Palmettos, fleeing dogs and acanthus leaves, all of Greek origin, were often seen in the designing of Roman jewelry.

Stones and glass were often used in Roman bracelets. . Gem stones were commonly found set in eyes. Open bands were cut to represent a row of ivy and entwined with pearls.

Many of the leaf and berry bracelets were heavily adorned with decorative glass. The wealthier women could be seen wearing bracelets layered in bezel set emeralds.

During the Gerogiian times bracelets remained popular. Paris jewelers were known for their gold bracelets set with pearl edging. After the 1820s coral became the “in” fashion statement, so bracelets and other jewelry were heavily set with coral.

During the Gerogiian time it was very fashionable to wear many bracelets at once, including wide ribbon gold mesh bracelets, and silk ribbon bracelets. Gem and Diamond bracelets were designed in geometric patterns. Gold was heavily used during this era.

The Victorian era brought changes to the fashions of women, including jewelry styles. Earrings grew long and dangled, bracelets became rigid and were normally worn in pairs. The buckle bracelet became very fashionable.

The jewelry of the Victorian era expressed sentiment, and bracelets were no exception. Bracelets would contain lockets or charms with pictures or hair of a loved one, and engravings were common

Early Victorian jewelry enjoyed some mystic with hidden meanings being popular. The acrostic bracelets where the first letter of each gemstone spelled a word of friendship were very popular. For example a bracelet set with Lapis, Opal, Vermeil [hessonite garnet] and Emerald would spell Love.

The Art Nouveau period once again saw changes to fashion and jewelry. Chameleons and serpents entwined themselves around bracelets. The mystical Egyptian scarab was found on bracelets and rings.

Other popular creatures included dragonflies, butterflies, bees, peacocks, swans, and even bats. This was a very figural period attached to nature.
If jewelry did not depict creatures it depicted flower blossoms or flower buds.

From 1910 to 1939 women’s fashions saw sleeveless or short sleeve dresses appear. The result was flexible bracelets and bangles worn on the upper arm. These arm bracelets were often adorned with gemstones or diamonds.

From 1940 to 1949 US designers were greatly influenced by the designs from the French house of Van Cleef & Arpels. Bracelets with ribbon of hexagon lines centered on fine gemstones fastened with heavy clasps became very vogue.

From 1950 to 1960 daytime saw simpler lines for not only gold bracelets but necklaces as well. Gold mesh or twisted wire bracelets were very popular.

From 1960 to 1970 bracelets became more flexible and were often set with gems. Bangles on the other hand became more rigid and were often seen set with random diamond placements.

From 1970 to 1979 bracelets were flexible and often set with tiny baguettes. Delicate and dainty bracelets were vogue.

From the 1980s to now bracelet fashions have been mixed and varied. Bracelet styles have become more of an individual fashion statement than a trend.

Gold has always remained popular as have gems, however sterling silver has become very popular and recognized for its versatility and wearability at affordable pricing. In the last few years we’ve also seen an increase in demand for titanium bracelets.

Today a women’s fashion statement is about her! What she likes, what she feels good in. So your bracelet wardrobe can be what ever you want. Wear a dainty gem set gold bracelet or an armful of clunky bracelets, which is very vogue this season.

Your fashion statement is about who you are, so feel free to be you!

By: Sher Matsen

About the Author:

The word ‘diamond’ is derived from an ancient Greek work meaning “impossible to tame.” Diamonds are one of the best-known forms of carbon. They have been used as gems from time immemorial and have a wide variety of industrial applications. The popularity of diamonds increased in the 19th century because of improved cutting and polishing techniques. The quality of the diamond is usually judged by the four C’s, referring to carat, clarity, color and cut.

Diamond earrings are a personal adornment worn attached to the ear lobe. Egyptians initiated the fashion of earrings by first wearing large gold hoops, which eventually grew smaller and also contained a pendant. In Babylonia and Assyria, men used to wear earrings as a sign of position. The Romans were connoisseurs of earrings set with precious stones. In the 18th century the diamond earring became more fashionable, and the 19th century witnessed the extensive use of the cameo.

Two basic types of diamond earrings exist. Diamond post and diamond wire earrings are for pierced ears, while diamond clips are for non-pierced ears. Post earrings use a clutch, nut or some other means to support it in the ear. Post earrings with a solitary diamond at the end are called stud earrings. Wire earrings like fish hooks and kidney wires use a differently shaped small wire that slips through the pierced ear to hold the earrings in place. Sometimes a hook at the back is used as an additional support. In the clip earrings a hinged clip clasps the earring in the ear lobe.

Diamond earrings vary in style, price range, size and weight. The diamond may be set with other diamonds or precious stones like emeralds, rubies and sapphires in yellow, white or red gold, silver, rhodium or platinum. There are infant and baby earrings as small as 0.06 carat, which is a 2-millimeter diamond in each ear, available for $49.

I am what I am, or so goes the saying. A popular trend in jewelry is to personalize the pieces you wear. With necklaces, this is all about displaying your name.

Personalized jewelry is extremely popular these days. From simple initial pendants (and some not so simple, such as those offered by Tiffany and Co) to longer words, people are getting more and more pieces created that mean something to them. Many choose to get names written in precious metals, such as silver and gold, in order to show off either their own moniker, or that of someone they love. Name necklaces can be made to suit any style or budget.

The simplest type of name necklaces is made with gold or silver wire. These are often plated wires, and they need to be soft enough to be bent into the various shapes of the letters. This type of necklace has a more rustic feel to it, with the name being literally written by the crafter. Letters will always be in a cursive or script style, but rarely have a limitation on the number of letters in a name. Another advantage to this type of necklace is that they can often be much less expensive than other name necklaces.

Most name necklaces today are made of sterling silver or gold, and are cast for the individual by jewelry companies. The types of lettering and size of the letters are nearly limitless – these companies usually have many different styles for you to choose from, with block, script and multi-color styles all being available. These names can also be found on bracelets and even on earrings, so you can show off your name in any place you wish.

Name necklaces can be made simply, with just silver or gold, or they can have various additions. Some styles allow for you to choose a birthstone to be added to your name, so that it can be even more personal. Other styles showcase names within a heart or other design – offsetting the name while still making it the focus of the piece. There are even some styles that allow you to use two names, great for couples. For those who really want the ultimate in name jewelry, there are even some styles that are diamond encrusted – to make your name sparkle.

Name necklaces are popular among all different age groups and areas of the world – although most of the wearers are female. These necklaces are a great way to show off the name of someone important to you (which may be yourself!) while also having a beautiful piece of jewelry to wear.

By: Arsene Bergkamp

About the Author:
