Fish Head Curry

Muthus CurryA few days ago I was treated to to fish head curry by my blogger friends at Muthu’s Curry, one of the most popular banana leaf restaurants here in Little India. It was really a delicious meal with spices in every dishes, including the desserts. At Muthu’s the fish head curry is a modified version of South Indian recipe. Fish head curry is uniquely Singaporean dish as Indians traditionally do not eat fish heads as a meal in itself. It’s a welcome change as I don’t usually eat spicy food and the good thing is one of the bloggers is an Indian so he gave us recommendations for the dinner. I am not particular or fussy about my food so I’m just too happy to have someone ordering the dishes for me.

Even though we chose a weekday for the dinner, the restaurant was packed with diners of different races besides the Indians themselves. There were many Westerners, Chinese and we even noticed a big group of Koreans. It is an amusing sight with the diners (including me) tucking in lustily while sweating from the spiciness of the curry. Even the vegetables are fried with curry spices that I cannot identify the original form of vegetable. But the meal was delicious and who cares if the nutritional value is zero. Once in a while we should just put our guards down and eat and do whatever we like. Read the review here if you like and it is also quite pricey for a casual restaurant. But we truly enjoyed the food, so it’s actually worth paying for it.

Wired accessoriesAs usual and for the fun of it I make new beaded accessories for myself. This time the beads in the necklace and the bracelet are wired instead of using ready-made chain and jump rings. I love the pretty claybeads as it has the fun and casual look. The accessories brighten up my otherwise plain t-shirt.

So don’t forget the name, Muthu’s curry, if you happen to be on this side of the planet. And I think I can hear Liudmila saying that life is not fair. Don’t worry my friend, I’ll treat you to fish head curry if you visit me.

What are you saying, Fatiah, life IS joy. Well, our life. I don’t remember if I sent you those terrible photos…

No,no,no, i’ll not go to you!!!!! :))) I don’ stand the smell of fish. And the taste too. I even become vomit if I feel it. Don’t know why. Maybe I was a fish in my previous life. ;)))

You are bad. You infected me with this terrible jewelry making. I’ve completely lose my head for it. By the way, do you know some good semiprecious beads supplier there not far from you?

ha..ha..sorry, wrong person. Forgot that you don’t like fish. But Liudmila probably you have not tried the curry or fried fish. When properly cooked the smell will disappear and when eating the fish head curry you can only smell the spicy aroma of the curry. Really delicious to me. ok if you don’t like fish I will treat you to satay, barbecued meat on sticks which has been marinated.
You are hooked on jewekry making? if will be so much fun if you are near me, we can do them together. Sorry i get my supplies from States which is cheaper than getting them here. I tried KL but couldnt find a good source. Probably in Bali, Vietnam or Bangkok but I don’t know any source. The azurite is lovely.

:))) Well, I’ll think about it. Next ticket will be for Singapour.

I had to order beads in the US too. It’s good if we think about the change. But here in Italy I have to pay enormous doganal taxes and don’t know how much will it cost for me at the end.

Looking for suppliers for my “shop” (I don’t remembeif I sent you the address of what I did “waiting that I have the possibilitie to have a good one, it ìs http://pietre-semipreziose.myblog.it/) I saw that the jewerly sold is not better as what I do. First. And has exagerate prices. Second. I thought, it could be convinient to buy beads and to do it myself. So, I want to try this.

Dear Fatiah, I did finally some passes to have a site in english. I would be very happy if you could say me some words what can I do to improve it. http://mystic-gemstones.it.gg/Home.htm
    Excuse me.

Sorry Liudmila for the late response. I will visit the sites soon. I bought beads from different suppliers frm Ebay. You are right about the convenient doing the beaded jewelry yourself. If we ever meet up I can teach you many things how to go about doing them.

  9. sewmyname Says:

Waliz dear the bead set is meant to adorn casual wear like plain tops. Baju kurung will need a more plain and elegant style.

Hi Viv. NO!!!! Muthus curry not for you. I bet you wouldn’t enjoy your meal and feel guilty about the zero nutrition due to all the dishes are deep fried.
