Feeling like the least favourite child

My thoughts 1 Comment »

Just want to share this articleHome Sewwt Home which appeared in Sunday Times a day after Singapore 43rd birthday and surprised many that it was published.  It is a sensitive issue which many would not dare to write or voice out openly. Being a Malay and a Muslim myself and sharing the same sentiments as the writer, a number of times I entertain thoughts to migrate elsewhere. But will that be a good solution I wonder too, will the grass be greener there?Probably I will still be second-class citizen in the new land.  One Malaysian blogger says by just replacing the word Malay” to “non-Malay”, the whole sentence would apply in Malaysia too. I believe everywhere, belonging to a minority group has its disadvantages.

But wherever we are, I think we should have respect and love for the land that we step on for providing us a place to call home. I sincerely wish my fellow citizens will try to understand us more and make us feel more loved instead of feeling like the least favorite child. Then only we can be one united people as in our pledge.
