Finished size is 15 1/4 x 13 1/4 inches.

Materials needed
4 sets for 4 blocks - 1 ¾ x 14 inch strips of 2 contrasting fabrics
8 rectangles of 2 ¼ x 3 5/8 inch.Cut each rectangle in half diagonally .
2 strips muslin - 1 ¾ x 16 inch
2 strips muslin 1 ¾ x 14 inch
16 x 14 inch backing material
16 x 14 inch batting (optional)
1 ¾ yd of binding. Preferably the same dark color of fabric

Make a template of 3 inches equilateral triangle and add ¼ inch all round for seam allowance.
Sew the 2 long strips of light and dark materials together.
Cut 6 triangles from each sewn strip.

Joining the pieces
4 blocks

Join 3 triangles in a row and add muslin side triangles at both ends. Press.
Repeat for the rest to form half blocks.
Join 2 half blocks to make a set of complete block. Make a total of 4 spider web blocks and join them together.

completed spider web tableclothSew the 2 shorter sashings to the shorter side of joined blocks. Trim ends neatly.
Next join the 2 longer sashings and trim extra materials at both ends again.
Join the block with the backing with batting in between if you want a thicker piece.
Bind the completed patchwork with the darker material.

Spider web jar cover
Jar cover For the jar cover you may need to increase the size of the spider web block. For example a bottle cover of 3 1/2 inch diameter you will need to cut 2 strips of 2 ¼ x 20 inch and make a bigger triangle template of 4 inches excluding seam allowance. Sew lace or trimming arounds each spider web block.

Tip- Draw on paper first the spider web design to estimate the size of each block which is suitable for your own requirement.
